The Cuomo Foundation is an independent philanthropic organization headquartered in Monaco, dedicated to impactful national and international initiatives. Solely funded by its own resources, its actions and projects have positively impacted thousands of individuals and numerous institutions across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
At its core, the Foundation focuses on empowering the most vulnerable and disadvantaged to grow and support their own communities. Education has been a cornerstone of its mission since its inception in 2001. Thousands of Indian schoolchildren have benefited from well-equipped, purpose-built, and funded schools, specifically in Tamil Nadu. A financial scholarship scheme, in operation for over 20 years, has seen hundreds of these same children successfully enrol in colleges and prestigious universities.
The Foundation engages in crucial climate research through major collaborations with the Prince Albert II Foundation and the IPCC, and it continues to be committed to supporting young scientists involved in finding viable solutions to the challenges facing their environments.
The Cuomo Foundation actively supports the arts and culture sector by aiding national institutions, including Monaco’s Princess Grace Dance Academy and the Academy of National Dance in Rome. For over two decades, it has been the principal sponsor of the Roma International Piano Competition in Rome. It continues to fund the preservation of the Royal Court of Tiébélé in Burkina Faso and played an instrumental role in its recent official recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Cuomo Foundation undertakes significant health and social aid projects, such as the construction and equipping of the Cuomo Cardio-Paediatric Centre in Dakar, Senegal. This vital facility, unique in the West African region, has a trained Senegalese medical team to care for infants, children, and young adults who previously required transfer to Europe for medical procedures. A fully funded dedicated residential facility in Annot, France, now offers respite care for autistic children and their families. The most recent collaboration with the historic Legion of Honour is supporting the renovation of their major teaching facilities and the important "Memory of Honour" project. This involves preserving and digitizing the Grand Chancellery’s invaluable archives and ensuring public access for the generations to come.
