In recognition of International Alzheimer’s Day, the Foundation funds vital equipment for the Antea Foundation in Rome
International Alzheimer’s Day was held on September 21st this year and in acknowledgment of this ,the Cuomo Foundation agreed to support the Rome based Antea Foundation’s request for funding for an electric medically customised vehicle.

Antea was founded in 1987 as a non-profit association for palliative care providing free 24hrs care assistance, at home, for people suffering from incurable diseases. It not only provides medical nursing care but also physiological, rehabilitative, social, spiritual and legal support. Creating comprehensive quality of life for the patient and the family.

In 2005, Antea was awarded the Gold Medal for Public Health and in 2009 received the Medal of the President of the Republic at the official inauguration of the Antea–Centre Palliative Care Network. The medically equipped centre was made available to Antea by ASL Roma1 in 2008 and is housed in the Santa Maria della Pietà Complex.

The Antea care centre provides full palliative and medical care for residential patients with 30 well equipped private ensuite rooms.

In 2010, Antea was the recipient of the international August and Marie Krogh Medal in recognition of ‘having made a significant contribution to improving people’s lives.’

The financial aid of the Cuomo Foundation, will enable Antea to purchase an electric vehicle, reinforcing the "Ancora più vicino" initiative. Healthcare teams will be able to intervene more easily and get "even closer" to the elderly and their families thanks to this equipment.

The support of the Cuomo Foundation thus contributes to improving the quality of life of these members of the community.
